Remember my previous post about a chalkboard wall here ? Well, I went ahead and did it and love the results. And you will also see the new clock I found on Etsy that is the perfect mix of vintage plate with clean lines that I wanted in the room.
These were the products I used for this project:
Here is the yawn-inspiring before shot of the area (except my new clock- ain't it purdy?)
So up went the blue tape again that was still in the garage from the large recent paint job. Here is the during:
It was a bit streaky at first but after three coats... all was right with the world. Here is what was going on around me during this process:
And here is the after:
I had thought about doing a magnetic paint first followed by a chalkboard paint but honestly I love the clean front of my stainless fridge and I see magnetic wall = load it up with crap. Also I read up that the magnetic paint was very strong smelling. I may not be a VOC-free mommy but I want to try and avoid it as much as possible when I can. After all my son has two of these in his playroom that he fills with art and magnets:
Now some rest for a weekend or two... and then on to the next adventure...
Love the idea! im sure the little one will love it.
ReplyDeleteThanks! He does love it- and I have to admit- so do I ;) Something about getting to draw with chalk makes me feel like a kid again!
ReplyDeleteGreat place for a chalkboard! I have one in my pantry & love it!
ReplyDeleteI have a wall just about like this in my kitchen and I have been debating whether to make it a chalkboard... I think your post was just the nudge I needed. Yours looks great! Thanks for posting and linking up with Centsational Girl.
ReplyDeleteI don't know why I waited so long. It was so easy and so worth it. This weekend it was filled with pictures from Easter of bunnies and fun Easter decor. I think my son loves being able to color on the walls and not get a time out ;)
ReplyDeleteIs it wrong that a big reason I want children is because I want to have a chalkboard wall? :)
ReplyDeleteHa ha... Chalkboard wall, tax break... oh and that whole unconditional love, amazing being a mommy thing. Those last two kind of win out ;)
